چکیده

Degradation of sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate (ABS) in the Fenton reagent in the presence of Clions has been studied. An anionic surfactant sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate (C11-C14) has been selected as a model compound. The effect of individual components of the reactive system (H2O2, H2O2/Cl -, Fe/H2O2, Fe/H2O2/Cl -) on the degree of ABS degradation has been determined. The degree of ABS degradation has been found to be affected by the presence of Clions and the mutual molar ratios of individual components of the system studied. Moreover, it influences on the composition of the post-reaction mixture. The use of the Fenton reagent in the presence of Clions resulted in the formation of chloroorganic compounds in the solution studied. 2,4,6-trichlorophenol was identified in reaction products and its presence was confirmed using the HPLC MS method and by HPLC with an internal standard. No chloroproducts were identified during degradation of ABS by the system H2O2/Cl -. When only H2O2 was applied, the concentration of the surfactant was unchanged.

Use of Fenton Reagent as Advanced Oxidative Process for Removal of Basic and Acid Red Dyes from Aqueous Solutions

In this study, the Fenton process was used to investigate the color removal efficiency of Acid Red 52 and Basic Red 18 dye solutions by direct chemical oxidation. Color and chemical oxygen demand (COD) was successfully removed more than 99% and up to 92% respectively. This article would provide an easy assessment of the viability of using Fenton reagent in acidic conditions, so it is a prom...

Influence of oxalic acid formed on the degradation of phenol by Fenton reagent.

The objective of this work is to examine the influence of oxalic acid formed on the degradation of phenol by Fenton reagent. Oxalic acid formed at initial stage within 30 min significantly suppresses the reduction of ferric ion, thus terminating degradation reaction. The yield of oxalic acid is dependent on the amount of ferrous ion dosed since the minimal amount of oxalic acid is formed after ...
